Few things are more reliable than death and taxes. Running a close third on the list is the inevitable release of new sets for Magic.

OK, so Multi-player Miscellany #19 was posted on June 2, 2004. That's almost 3 years since I've written an article. Why did I stop? On July 10, 2004 I opened Dueling Grounds. I went from running the occasional big Magic tournament to running a retail store full time. And I had no idea how much work it was going to be.

'Coq au Vin', translated literally, means 'cock in wine'. Calm down my prepubescent friends - the cock refers to an old, tough, male chicken. It stews very slowly with other wonderful things like bacon and mushrooms until beautifully tender and ready to serve. A metaphor for my new deck.

OK, so we are all too lazy to actually think about a decent idea for an article for our beloved Mtgontario, let alone to sit down and actually write one. I suspect we're all a little afraid of the response (or lack there-of) our 'work' will garner, but it's not like your submission is going to make or break your entrance into post secondary school. If all you are after is getting a good discussion going, simply pepper your article with references to the Trepaniers or Dmac/Viner, etc.

Why play Madness? After all, isn't it just a bad Affinity? As an avid Madness player, it pains me to say "yes".

I recently read an article addressing the Type 2 metagame. It was basically a discussion of what would you run in a metagame dominated by Tooth and Nail and Affinity. I saw some surprising answers.

I suppose this article is a little late, but oh well. Now that Pro Tour: Columbus has passed us, and the Team Sealed PTQ's have started up, I am even more anxious then ever for Extended season to begin. However, I am worried that our Ontario metagame is going to be quite wierd.

Two years ago I wrote an article about the Extended PTQ season, entitled The Most Important Deck of the Season. In it I tried to detail the reasons why Madness was an important deck for the PTQs. Even if it wasn't clearly the best deck, it allowed people who previously had only T2 experience to take the cards they had accumulated over the past year, add a couple of Intuitions and have a competitive deck for a very low price.

When Crucible of Worlds first came out, the Fastbond-Zuran Orb-Crucible combo was the first one I thought of, and that inspired me immediately to make a deck similar to that of Duncan's on Apprentice. Until only about a few weeks ago, I've only seriously considered playing it in Type 1 because I thought it wasn't stable enough.

Well, we are nearing the end of this Block season and for the first time I am actually very happy about this. This format has to be the most frustrating for me. I don't want to sell out and play Affinity, but at the same time, I don't wanna play something else and get beaten by Affinity.
