For most of you this would be your first time hearing of me and I don't blame you. I can't say that the Canadian Magic scene has been the talk of the worldwide Magic community but in the last couple years it has really been blossoming and we are making our presence known to the rest of the world.

97 players showed up in sunny London, Ontario to do battle for a chance to play in the upcoming Pro Tour: Philadelphia. Your humble reporter will be bringing you match coverage and other goodies, so get your reading hats on.

So as some of you may already know, I have been living in Western Japan for slightly over two months now. I arrived here a week before PT Nagoya and settled in for work and school. I placed in the top 100 at the PT as day 2 didn't go so well for me, but big props to Pascal Maynard and Nassim Ketita who both qualified for Philadelphia off top 50ing Nagoya. However this article isn't about the PT, but about a PTQ in Osaka I attended about a week prior to writing this article.

Alternative titles include: "How to Qualify for Worlds When you Can't Qualify for Nationals", "I've never 4-0'ed a Daily," "Thank God for Pack Three" and "A Month of MODO."

So I've been travelling around Europe and Japan for the last two months and with a bunch of cancellations and a somewhat dismal showing in Paris, I was definitely looking for my last chance to redeem myself and to justify the couple months worth of gallivanting around the world.

Just wanted to share the great tournament OMG put on and the glacially exciting experience that is 43 lands...
|
This is actually sort of a short tournament report, but I found it a somewhat interesting story to tell so I will. This is the story of how I managed to get 2 extra byes for GP Barcelona in a GPT in Oslo, Norway.

I recently had a hell of a Saturday with a lot of ups and one significant down. After all was said and done, I wasn't really sure how to feel about the whole thing. Writing this report is cheaper than a therapist, so here we go!

As many of you have known me for quite some time, I've been playing for over 10 years (around the time when Stronghold was released – 1998?).
|
|
I arrived in Detroit Tuesday afternoon in one of those rickety commuter planes. I know that all planes can be described as flying tin cans, but I swear this flying tin can was powered by a hamster and a rubber band.
