 While planning my trip to Australia I only had 2 things on my mind. The First was travel and the second was work. Magic did not even cross my mind. I was traveling halfway across the world, as far as you can get from my home in London, Ontario and still be on the planet. A somewhat sobering thought, but an adventure that would lead me back to the game I found so familiar.

While perusing Star City the other day, I felt inspired by Ben Bleiweiss' blog series to think back to the beginnings of my Magic addictions and where they've traveled through the years. I began to realize that we all traverse the same timeline in our exploration of this fantastic game; even the very best were n00bs at some point in time. How far have you gone?

Every summer, it's the same old thing. Less interesting articles online about Magic, a time of stagnation as Magic players wait for Worlds and the release of the fall Magic set. But there's ways to overcome the doldrums. Sure, you can pack your Magic cards away and go surfing. But why give up on your favorite hobby? Here are some suggestions to spice up your Magic life.

This isn't the type of article I usually write - which really, now that I think about it, means it is neither a tournament report nor something about the Ontario City Challenge - but it is something that's been rattling around in my head for a while, and I thought that I'd share it with you.

October 25th 2003, it's hard to believe that it's been so long since I won your hearts and minds as Ontario Provincial Champion. I figure it's about time we take a look back at my first 8 months in power and reflect upon what has been accomplished.

I was going to post a huge article ranking decks in 100 card. I was going to list all the tier one, two and three decks and have decklists for each plus a short strategy article from a high profile (well, high profile for 100 card) player who was associated with the deck. Then I had second thoughts.

What kind of bright balls of sunny goodness are ascending within the Fifth Dawn set for multi-player fanatics? I'll shed some light on that subject.

Trading. We all do it. Casual and competitive, player and collector. Is there anyone who has played Magic for more than a month who hasn't done some trading?
|
|
The new artifact subtype Equipment has made a huge splash in both tournament and casual Magic. There's no arguing that Equipment dominates Enchant Creature spells in the tournament scene. But which is better in casual multi-player games? It's not so easy an answer.
|
|
Entering into any relationship requires acceptance and compromise. This is especially the case with Magic geeks. A cool girlfriend reflects on the influence of Magic in her life. Date him, date his obsession.
